Message From The President

Dear Friends and Colleagues:

I would like to personally welcome you to Acadiana SHRM! It is my honor and privilege to serve as President of Acadiana Society of Human Resource Management (ASHRM) for 2019.  ASHRM is proud to be the local affiliate of the Society of Human Resource Management (SHRM), the world’s largest HR professional society representing over 300,000 HR professionals in more than 165 countries.  Locally, ASHRM represents over 330 HR professionals in Acadiana and the surrounding areas, and we are thrilled to have you as part of our strong and growing network!

ASHRM has a variety of initiatives planned for 2019 that will help to advance the HR profession, influence our workplaces, and help create positive change in our community.  Here are a few things you can expect this year:

·        Monthly Meetings

·        Community Workshops

·        HR Advisory Group

·        HR Certification Study Group

·        Annual HR Conference & Expo

·        HR Internship Program

·        Diversity Workshop & Expo

·        UL SHRM Mentorship Program

·        Nepris – HR Week

·        OM Boot Camp for Entrepreneurs

·        NEW! Veteran’s Initiative

As Johnny C. Taylor Jr., CEO of SHRM, recently said “Our overarching theme for 2019 is ‘Better Workplaces, Better World’ because we believe HR can create the kind of positive, inclusive cultures that flow through our workplaces and out into the larger society.”  As a member of ASHRM, you have a unique opportunity to take this goal and make it a reality for our local community.  We encourage you take advantage of all the offerings ASHRM provides, and hopefully get involved on a deeper level to see our goals make a lasting impact in Acadiana.

I look forward to seeing you at our next event, and on behalf of the ASHRM Board, we’d like to welcome you to our family of HR professionals.

Best Regards,

Rachael R. Landry, PHR, SHRM-SCP
